Dual studies are a study model that combines theory at a university with practice in a company. This allows you to gain a certificate at a Bachelor level and work experience at the same time. Sometimes dual studies also include a vocational training (Ausbildung) certificate. There are many types of dual studies. However it is important to know that dual studies are quite challenging because they demand a lot of time, energy, and flexibility.
In order to know if you are eligible for dual studies, you can use our Transfer Checklist on Kiron Campus. Basic requirements are usually:
Having practical experience, such as an internship, in the field of interest
Successfully passing a test (in some cases)
When considering dual studies, there are two possibilities to apply:
- You can first find a spot in a company that offers a dual studies program -OR-
You can apply first at the Hochschule (university) and look for a partner company (Hochschulen sometimes have partnerships with companies offering dual studies spots)
Please note that every Hochschule has a different process, so it is best to inform yourself about how to apply before starting your research!
