How can I register for Coursera for Refugees?

*Please note that United States export control regulations prohibit U.S. businesses, such as Coursera, from offering services to users in specific sanctioned regions. This means that access to Coursera's offers might be limited in some regions. Read more about this here.*

As a Kiron student, you will not be registered automatically to Coursera.

First, you have to upload your documents on Kiron Campus, and once this is done, then register on the Coursera website.

Watch the video below or follow the steps under:

1. When you want to join a course offered by Coursera, but you have not made an account yet, this message will appear at the top of the Course Page: “Please Verify your account to get access to unlimited free courses and certificates”. Click on "Verify Document". (If you don’t see this message, it means you have already uploaded your document! Go directly  to step 7).
2. You will be redirected to the Document Upload page.
3. Upload a document showing your status as a refugee or an asylum seeker.
4. Now, you will have to wait for 2-3 weeks for your document to be verified by our teams. (Please note that in the video it says 1-3 days, however, we are currently having very high registration numbers, so this is going to take approximately 2-3 weeks at the moment.)
5. While waiting, you can already go on www.coursera.org to create your account. 
6. On the Coursera main page, click on “Log In" at the top right. 
7. Choose "Sign Up" at the top. Use the same email address that you used to register with Kiron. You can use a name and password of your choice. Coursera will send you an automatic email in the following minutes. 
8. Go to your email and open the email with the title “Action required: Please confirm your email”. 
9. Click on the “Confirm email address” link.
10. You will be redirected to a Coursera page that says "Email verified".
11. Now that you have verified your email with Coursera, wait that Kiron verifies your document. 
12. Once Kiron has verified your document, next time you log in to Coursera, you will see a message which says “You are invited to join Kiron Higher Education Learning Program”. Click on “Join Program”.
13. You did it ! You have now access to all the courses and certificates for free! 
14. If you followed all the steps above, you should see the Kiron logo next to the Coursera logo on the top left of the page, like below:

If Coursera asks you to pay for courses, this could be for two different reasons:

• You were enrolled in a course but this course was replaced on Kiron Campus. Then you should unenroll and enroll again on Kiron Campus. 
• You have recently joined Kiron Campus and you did not submit your document to complete your registration. Before you can use Coursera, we need to accept your document. Click here to upload it.  
• You have enrolled on a course directly through Coursera and not through Kiron Campus. If this happened, then please note that all courses included in a Kiron curriculum are free of charge, but not all courses on Coursera are free.
• Please note that Bachelor and Master degree courses on Coursera are not part of the Kiron Learning Program, only MOOCs (shorter courses).
