If you would like to apply to a German university, here is some information about certificates that could be useful. Please note, that you should always first check with the individual university to find out which exams are accepted. Below is an overview of the most commonly accepted language certificates.

Where and when do I receive a certificate? |
Results are published 6-8 weeks after the exam. Certificate is available 7 weeks after the exam at latest. |
Results are available 2-4 weeks after the written exam and directly after the oral exam in the test centre. |
If all four modules have been passed during a single exam session, certificates are available within 2-4 weeks. |
Certificates are available in the exam center 4-6 weeks after the exam. |
What results do I need to be able to study in Germany? |
Achieving the Niveau 4 in all test sections. Some institutions may accept TestDaF-Niveau 3. |
Total test result of DSH-2 (or higher). Some study courses may accept lower language levels. |
C2 is the most common. A few universities accept the C1 or B2 scores. |
