From 2017 to 2024, Kiron operated on-the-ground in Jordan, supporting more than 10,000 refugees and underserved communities to continue their education through blended learning approaches. While we would have loved to continue, shifting global funding priorities compelled us to end our on-the-ground operations in Jordan. This decision was not made easily, especially because many Kiron learners have been very active in the regional community and met personally with our colleagues at the office in Amman. We invite you to read our recent blog post with highlights of our Jordan office.
What does this mean for you as a verified learner?
You are still part of Kiron, and you will continue to have access to free online courses via Kiron Campus and our partnerships with other providers as usual. (Please note the general changes in access to Coursera for Refugees).
Please note that…
- We no longer have an office and a team working in Amman, so you will not be able to contact us in person.
- You won’t be able to contact us via phone, and the Whatsapp groups you may be part of will not have any moderation from Kiron.
- The email students.jordan@kiron.ngo will be deactivated. If you have any questions, please write to us at student-support@kiron.ngo.
What does this mean for new learners?
Thanks to our regional operations, we were able to offer all learners in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and Palestine access to different programs, including the Coursera Program, regardless of their status as refugees or asylum seekers.
Please note that…
- We are not able to verify new learners from those countries without a document indicating that they are seeking international protection outside their country of origin.
- New learners who do not meet this eligibility criteria may still use the Kiron Campus, sign up for our newsletter, and attend our events and webinars, but they won’t get access to the Coursera Program or other offers available to verified learners.
